Bitcoin and Ethereum continued to grow over the weekend, indicating steady demand even as the leading cryptocurrency approaches its historical highs. While everyone is anticipating that Bitcoin will soon break above the $112,000 level, I came across some rather interesting reports regarding hacks and thefts in the first half of 2025.
According to the data, hackers stole $2.1 billion in crypto, with over 80% of the losses stemming from infrastructure attacks — thefts of private keys, seed phrases, and frontend breaches. This alarming data highlights the growing vulnerability of the cryptocurrency industry to cybercrime, which is becoming increasingly sophisticated and targeted. The focus of attacks is shifting from individual users to larger targets — crypto platforms, exchanges, and services that provide storage and transaction solutions for digital assets.
The theft of private keys and seed phrases remains one of the most common and effective methods for attackers to gain complete control over victims' cryptocurrency wallets and assets. Frontend breaches, in turn, enable the injection of malicious code that intercepts user credentials or redirects transactions to the attackers' wallets.
The largest incident was the $1.5 billion Bybit hack, reportedly carried out by North Korea. Also noted in the report was the June hack of the Iranian exchange Nobitex, which resulted in the theft of $90 million.
However, judging by Bitcoin's price movement, this doesn't appear to be significantly affecting the crypto market. In the past, such hacks had a more noticeable impact, with Bitcoin often reacting by declining.
Regarding my intraday strategy in the cryptocurrency market, I will continue to act based on any major pullbacks in Bitcoin and Ethereum, anticipating a continuation of the medium-term bull market, which remains intact.
For short-term trading, the strategy and conditions are outlined below.
Scenario #1: I will buy Bitcoin today at the entry point near $108,400, targeting a rise to $109,100. At around $109,100, I plan to exit my long positions and sell immediately on a rebound.
Before buying on a breakout, ensure the 50-day moving average is below the current price and the Awesome Oscillator is in the zone above zero.
Scenario #2: Bitcoin can also be bought from the lower boundary of $107,900 if there is no market reaction to a breakout downward, with a return move to $108,400 and $109,100.
Scenario #1: I will sell Bitcoin today at the entry point near $107,900, targeting a decline to $107,200. Around $107,200, I plan to exit short positions and buy immediately on a rebound.
Before selling on a breakout, ensure the 50-day moving average is above the current price and the Awesome Oscillator is in the zone below zero.
Scenario #2: Bitcoin can also be sold from the upper boundary of $108,400 if there is no market reaction to a breakout upward, with a return move to $107,900 and $107,200.
Scenario #1: I will buy Ethereum today at the entry point near $2,531, targeting a rise to $2,566. At around $2,566, I plan to exit my long positions and sell immediately on a rebound.
Before buying on a breakout, ensure the 50-day moving average is below the current price and the Awesome Oscillator is in the zone above zero.
Scenario #2: Ethereum can also be bought from the lower boundary of $2,487 if there is no market reaction to a breakout downward, with a return move to $2,513 and $2,566.
Scenario #1: I will sell Ethereum today at the entry point near $2,487, targeting a drop to $2,433. At around $2,433, I plan to exit my short positions and buy immediately on a rebound.
Before selling on a breakout, ensure the 50-day moving average is above the current price and the Awesome Oscillator is in the zone below zero.
Scenario #2: Ethereum can also be sold from the upper boundary of $2,513 if there is no market reaction to a breakout upward, with a return move to $2,487 and $2,433.
